AGILITY (with the ball): Print-Ready Session 06
Why Agility is so important for futsalers
Futsal is a dynamic sport with very often changing game situations and roles of players. At one point your team is in posession of the ball and you are in attack. In two seconds the ball gets intercepted and now you have to become a defender.
Each situation and each role make players take different decisions and also - use different skills. Futsal skills are not just technique (passing, shooting, receiving), but also such skills as endurance, speed, agility, strength, reaction etc. In fact, with out agility for example, futsal player would not be able to improve his receiving and passing skills much. So my message is this: remember - all skills are interconnected and interdependant from each other.
Futsal player must be a complete athlete, who has many different abilities, many different skills developed. Today will will talk about agility. Agility in futsal is one of the most important skills to train. Agility in futsal coaching should be divided into overall agilty and special agility. Overall agility is usually improve with such methods as different gymnastic exercises, diffrent dynamic games (such as basketball or voleyball, for example), relay.
Overall agility is very well improved also with the help of well-known exercises, but in new environment. For example - different surface, different directions, different obstacles etc. Special agility is improved with the help of the ball and this also should be a well-known exercise, but in new environment. For example players can be put in conditions, where they would have to use their technical, physical and mental skills in order to get out of a difficult situation in a game.
